The Five Faults That Account For 90% Of Singapore Repair Calls
After 10,000+ service jobs across Singapore, the failure modes repeat themselves. If your aircon isn’t working, it’s almost certainly one of these:
- Blocked drainage line — water pools in the tray and drips onto the floor. Simple to clean, common on units older than 2 years.
- Weak or dead capacitor — unit hums but the fan doesn’t spin, or starts slowly. A S$100–160 fix if caught early.
- Failed fan motor — no airflow at all, or the blower wheel rattles. Replacement brackets vary by brand.
- Burnt printed circuit board (PCB) — blinking error lights, unit unresponsive to remote. Most expensive common fault; we match OEM boards where available.
- Refrigerant leak or low pressure — unit runs but blows warm air. We refill and pressure-test, but only after confirming there’s no slow leak wasting the new gas.
We diagnose all five within the first 15–20 minutes on-site, then give you a written fixed-price quote before any paid work begins.
How Our Repair Call Actually Runs
| Stage | Time | What We Do |
|---|---|---|
| Arrival & triage | 5 min | Photo the unit, confirm the symptom, ask the history |
| Diagnostic | 15 min | Pressure check, voltage check, error-code readout, thermal camera on compressor |
| Written quote | 5 min | Parts + labour, itemised — your signature needed to proceed |
| Repair | 30–90 min | Depends on fault; most finish same-visit |
| Test & handover | 10 min | 30-minute cooling test, new fault codes cleared, warranty notes signed |
The S$50 diagnostic fee is waived if you proceed with the repair. If you decide not to, you pay S$50 and keep the written diagnostic report.
Brand Coverage (All Major Systems)
Our technicians are trained — and we carry common parts — for:
- Daikin including VRV, Inverter Smile, and Perfera series
- Mitsubishi Electric including Starmex and Mr. Slim series
- Panasonic Econavi (X, XE, and AeroSmart series)
- Toshiba (Daiseikai and inverter range)
- LG (Dual Inverter and Art Cool)
- Hitachi (Shirokuma and RAS-DH series)
- Older National and Sanyo units — parts sourced via wholesaler network
If your unit is under the manufacturer’s warranty, we can still perform diagnostic work, but we’ll advise you to claim parts replacement through the original dealer first to avoid voiding cover.
What We Don’t Do (Honesty Matters)
- We don’t touch units still under manufacturer warranty unless you ask us to — call your dealer first.
- We don’t “top up refrigerant” without first checking for leaks. Paying twice for the same gas is a complaint we refuse to create.
- We don’t fit non-OEM PCBs without telling you. If a generic board is cheaper, we’ll show you the trade-off (lifespan, error-code compatibility) and let you choose.
